The popular veteran Ben’s Cat tops the field as the morning line favorite at odds of 2-1 for trainer King Leatherbury. A nine-year-old gelded son of Parker’s Storm Cat, he has won 28 of his 46 career starts and has bankrolled over $2.3 million in earnings. He has won three of the last four editions of the Jim McKay Turf Sprint Stakes and will be making his second start of the year after finishing second in an allowance race. Regular rider Julien Pimentel will be aboard from post position three.

Bold Thunder going for second straight win

Second choice at 7-2 on the morning line is Bold Thunder for trainer Patricia Farro. A five-year-old son of Bold n’ Flashy, he is a seven-time career winner and was last seen turning in a front-running effort in an allowance race at Pimlico to defeat four rivals including Ben’s Cat. Pierre Hernandez Ortega will be in the irons for the second time and they are scheduled to break from post position seven.

Amelia's Wild Ride trying to bounce back

Also in the field at morning line odds of 4-1 is Amelia’s Wild Ride for trainer Ramon Preciado. A four-year-old son of D’Wildcat, he is a seven-time winner and will be trying to rebound after finishing tenth and last in the Shakertown Stakes (G3) at Keeneland. He has had a bullet workout since then and will have Roberto Alvarado, Jr. aboard as he tries to earn his second stakes win of the year.
