The Friday October 10 card at Keeneland features just a single stakes race the $100,000 Buffalo Trace Franklin Countywhich features an overflow field scheduled to go five and a half furlongs on turf.
In a completely wide-open betting race, Ageless and Free as a Bird are co-favorites at 4/1 on the morning line. The former will be ridden by the red-hot Julien Leparoux and exits a third place finish in the Grade 2 Presque Isle Masters. Prior to that effort, Ageless was victorious in a grade 3 event at Woodbine for trainer Arnaud Delacour who is hitting at a 23% clip this year. Free as a Bird, ridden by Joel Rosario, has been idle since August and enters the Buffalo Trace on a four-race winning streak. The Ian Wilkes trainee has shown a penchant for tight finishes, winning two of her last three starts by just a neck.
Quality Lass will be on the engine
In a race loaded with speed, Quality Lass (6/1) could be the most quality front-runner in the race. Fresh of a score in the $200,000 Turf Monster at Parx, Quality Lass has looked sharp in her last two starts. Richies Sweetheart (10/1) also figures to show plenty of speed and the duel up front could determine the complexion of the race.
Sky Treasure should be rolling late
Sky Treasure (8/1), will break from the rail for trainer Mark Casse, but the race could set up for her closing kick. The four year-old daughter of Sky Mesa was beaten just a half length by Ageless two back and won a $62,000 optional claimer in her next start.
