On Saturday at Belmont Park, the track will host the $400,000 Frizette Stakes, a key prep for the Breeders Cup Juvenile Fillies (G1). A Grade 1 event for two-year-olds, the one mile contest has drawn a field of seven.
Width has been tabbed as the morning line favorite at odds of 5-2 for trainer Christophe Clement. A bay filly from the first crop of stallion Blame, she is stepping up to stakes competition for the first time after breaking her maiden in her career debut last time out. She defeated nine rivals by 2 ½ lengths despite not breaking from the gate well. Jose Ortiz will be back aboard and they are scheduled to break from post position two.
She's All Ready shooting for third straight win
Second choice at morning line odds of 3-1 is She’s All Ready for trainer James Ryerson. Purchased for only $45,000 earlier in the year, she is undefeated from two starts and earned her first black type victory last time out at Saratoga in the Seeking the Ante Stakes. She has had consecutive bullet workouts in preparation for this race and will break from the rail under Junior Alvarado.
Class test for high-priced Nickname
Also in the field at morning line odds of 7-2 is Nickname for trainer Steve Asmussen. A dark bay daughter of Scat Daddy, she fetched $350,000 as a yearling and will be making her stakes debut. After a fourth place finish in her first start, she broke her maiden last time out as the favorite at Saratoga. Javier Castellano will remain aboard and they will break from post five.
