Home Journey has been tabbed as the morning line favorite in the wide-open field of nine at odds of 2-1 for trainer Mike Puype. A five-year-old daughter of Good Journey, the California-bred mare has been on the board in nine of her thirteen starts and is a five-time winner. She earned her first graded stakes victory two starts back in the Las Cienegas Stakes (G3) and was second last time out in the Mizdirection Stakes. Rafael Bejarano will be aboard from the outsid post.
Birdlover (GB) trying to return to winning form
Second choice at 5-2 on the morning line is Birdlover (GB) for trainer Doug O’Neill. A five-year-old daughter of Byron (GB), she began her career in her native Great Britain before making her stateside debut in 2012. She has six wins from eighteen starts and is a multiple ungraded stakes winner. She was eighth last time out in the Royal Heroine Stakes (G2) and will try to return to form. Mike Smith will be in the irons from post position five.
Shrinking Violet looking to rebound
Also in the field at morning line odds of 3-1 is Shrinking Violet for trainer and owner Wesley Ward. A five-year-old daughter of Congaree, she has won seven of her eighteen starts and won her first graded stakes race in January in the Monrovia Stakes (G2) at Santa Anita. She was last seen finishing sixth in the Highlander Stakes (G2) at Woodbine. She will have Kent Desormeaux aboard as she tries to return to competitive form from the inside post.
