On Saturday, Delta Downs will host the 10th edition of the $200,000 Treasure Chest Stakes. The one mile contest has drawn a field of nine fillies and mares.
Yahilwa has been named the 5-2 morning line favorite and will be making her first start at Delta Downs for trainer James Cassidy after racing primarily in California. A four-year-old daughter of Medaglia d’Oro, she has won four times and has been competitive against graded stakes competition. She was last seen winning an optional claiming race at Santa Anita. Mike Smith will be aboard and they will break from post six.
Champion Spring in the Air going for second win of the year
Mark Casse will saddle the second choice, Spring in the Air, at odds of 5-2 on the morning line. A four-year-old Ontario-bred daughter of Spring at Last, the bay filly was the Sovereign Award winner in 2012 as the champion juvenile filly and is a former Grade 1 winner. She has one victory this year which came in May at Woodbine and will be trying to earn her fifth career win. Shaun Bridgmohan has the mount from post four.
Kiss to Remember going for second career stakes victory
Also in the field at odds of 4-1 on the morning line is Kiss to Remember for trainer Tom Amoss. The sophomore filly will be taking on older fillies and mares and will be attempting to earn her third win of the year and fourth overall. She has been second in her last four starts and is going for her second career stakes win. A chestnut daughter of Big Brown owned by Maggi Moss, she will break from post position two under Gerard Melancon.
