Untapable Back For Redemption in $600,000 Apple Blossom Handicap
Untapable tops the field as the overwhelming favorite at odds of 1-2 on the morning line for trainer Steve Asmussen. As a three-year-old last year, she capped off her season with a win in the Breeders’ Cup Distaff (G1) and earned the Eclipse Award for champion three-year-old filly. She was second as the heavy favorite in the Azeri Stakes (G2) in March in her four-year-old debut. John Velazquez will be back aboard and they will break from post position two.
Gold Medal Dancer trying for two upsets in a row
Gold Medal Dancer, the mare that pulled off the upset victory in Azeri Stakes (G2), is the second choice at 3-1 on the morning line for trainer Donnie Von Hemel. Bred and owned by Pin Oak Stud, the five-year-old daughter of Medaglia d’Oro has won seven of her sixteen starts and earned her first graded stakes victory last time out. Luis Quinonez will remain aboard and they will break from post position five.
Sugar Shock rounding into form off of a layoff
Also in the field at morning line odds of 10-1 is Sugar Shock for trainer Doug Anderson. A four-year-old daughter of Candy Ride (ARG), she has won five of her eleven starts and is a graded stakes winner. After getting pulled up in the Iowa Oaks (G3) as a sophomore, she returned off of a seven-month layoff to win the American Beauty Stakes. She was fourth in an optional claiming race last time out and will have Channing Hill aboard from the outside post.
