Vyjack Headlines Field for $100,000 Queens County
On Saturday at Aqueduct, the featured race is the 109th running of the $100,000 Queens County Stakes. Scheduled to be run at a mile and an eighth on the inner main track, the race has drawn a field of nine colts and geldings.
Graded stakes winner Vyjack has been installed as the morning line favorite at odds of 5-2 for trainer Rudy Rodriguez. A four-year-old son of Into Mischief, the bay gelding has won two of his seven starts this year and was last seen finishing fifth in the Cigar Mile (G1). He is a perfect two for two over Aqueduct’s inner track and has won a total of six of his fifteen starts. Regular rider Irad Ortiz, Jr. will be in the irons from post position four.
Stormin Monarcho going for third straight win
Second choice at 3-1 on the morning line is Stormin Monarcho for trainer David Jacobson. The four-year-old gelded son of Monarchos is going for his third consecutive stakes victory and was last seen winning the Swatara at Penn National. A nine time winner with five wins this year alone, he will be making his first start at Aqueduct. Jevian Toledo, aboard for his last two wins, will remain aboard and they will break from post position seven.
Loaded entry for owner Mike Repole
Owner Mike Repole will send out Misconnect and Micromanage as part of a coupled entry at odds of 7-2. Misconnect, trained by Bruce Levine, is going for his first stakes victory and was last seen winning an optional claiming race. The ridgling son of Unbridled’s Song will have Dylan Davis aboard. Micromanage, a son of Medaglia d’Oro ridden by Manuel Franco, will be saddled by Todd Pletcher and the multiple graded stakes winner is trying to rebound after a tenth and last place finish on the turf last time.
