Competitive Field of Eleven Set for $250,000 Dixiana Elkhorn Stakes

Topping the wide open field at morning line odds of 7-2 is Dynamic Sky for trainer Mark Casse. A five-year-old son of Sky Mesa, he has won five of his twenty-three outings and is a graded stakes winner. He has struggled to hit the board from three starts this year and is switching back to the turf after finishing sixth in the Santa Anita Handicap (G1). Julian Leparoux will be aboard and they will break from post position ten.

Unitarian trying to repeat in the Dixiana Elkhorn

Second choice at 9-2 on the morning line is Unitarian for trainer Todd Pletcher. A homebred for Robert S. Evans, the five-year-old son of Pulpit will be trying to defend his title in the Dixiana Elkhorn (G2) after winning the 2014 edition. He turned in a winning effort in his first start of the year in the H. Allen Jerkens Stakes at Gulfstream Park and is scheduled to break from post position four under jockey Javier Castellano.

Holiday Star making first start of the year

Also in the field at morning line odds of 5-1 is Holiday Star for trainer Graham Motion. A five-year-old son of Harlan’s Holiday bred, the bay gelding will carry the green and white silks of breeder George Strawbridge Jr.’s Augustin Stables. He has won four of his fourteen starts and will be trying to earn the second graded stakes victory of his career. Rajiv Maragh will be in the irons for his seasonal debut from post position six.
